James Cox, M.D.

Dr. James G. Cox is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist that underwent GME training in the Navy at National Capital Consortium which included National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and Walter Reed USA Medical Center in Washington D.C. He completed subspecialty training in Cardiovascular Anesthesia at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C. and completed his active duty service obligation at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX as part of the cardiovascular anesthesia staff. Dr. Cox is a graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas Texas. He attended UT San Antonio as an undergraduate and received a BS in Biology in 1989. Dr. Cox joined Tejas Anesthesia P.A. in 2002 and is a member in the Spillar Division. His work experience not only included cardiac anesthesiology but also includes neuroanesthesia, pediatric anesthesia and now much of his practice is dedicated to anesthesia for women’s services including obstetrical anesthesia.

In 2008, Dr. Cox completed his Masters in Business Administration from Auburn University, Auburn Alabama and graduated with Academic Honor’s.

Dr. Cox is a Commander in the US Naval Reserve. He is also a parishioner at St. Luke Catholic Church. In his spare time he volunteers as a student tutor/mentor for the Jewish Literacy Council in the NSISD. He enjoys hunting, sailing and riding his bicycle.
